Project: Logo Rebrand Client: Roanoke Valley Speech & Hearing Center Platform: Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop Collaborators: Ainsley Smith, Will Jones Year: 2023 At a non-profit design event, our team of three designers (including myself) was tasked with creating a new logo for the Roanoke Valley Speech & Hearing Center, a local non-profit. The client requested a design that incorporated iconography of the Blue Ridge Mountains along with elements symbolizing sound waves or hearing therapy. I was primarily responsible for the conception and initial sketches of the logo’s direction, as well as the digitization of the first rendition of the logo.
The final logo features a blue and green color palette, inspired by the local mountain landscape. The sound waves were carefully designed to resemble the outline of a mountain ridge, visually merging the concepts of sound and the natural surroundings. A modern, easy-to-read sans serif typeface was chosen to enhance clarity, while the ampersand subtly references the iconic Roanoke Star, giving the logo a strong sense of place and community connection.
