Project: Typographic Poem Zine

ruok (are you okay) is a collaborative poem and zine created by me and four other peers. The zine’s foundation is within typography, with the designs for each page being modified scans of unique Letraset compositions we created. The story of ruok is based on the stages of life; as you travel through this person’s life, the page visuals and colors change to match it. You find yourself seeing yourself in this unknown person’s childhood whimsy, angsty teenage years, difficult adulthood, and forgetful elderly years. 

Each group member was responsible for a stage of life. My Letraset scans complemented the elderly stage. The physical zines were a labor of love and feature an accordion-style binding. Tissue pages with screenprinted letters & numbers act as chapter pages in the zine. The cover is a Cricut cut title. We made 5 zines in total.
