Project: Magazine Cover & Spreads

Year: 2023

Using my own photography from my travels abroad in Central Asia, I created two spreads and a cover for a magazine about Arabic type. The premise of the project was to explore grid structures, InDesign, and letterforms of a foreign language. Whilst being respectful to Arabic letterforms, I created patterns using Arabic glyphs to accompany each spread. I researched various Arabic type foundries and carefully chose Arabic fonts that varied in width, style, and glyph connection. Colors were drawn from Arabesque patterns and other of my own photography.
